Ok, I did not grow up in Kentucky eating Tiramisu, such fancy desserts we did not know! Since moving to California I discovered that I not only love all things Italian but this dessert I love very much! Sometimes however I felt the coffee flavor and liqueur in the traditional Tiramisu just was a bit too much, for me anyway. So, this is a different spin on Tiramisu, maybe some would say this is not a true Tiramisu, I agree but it does have, mascarpone, liqueur and lady fingers? This is just a really good dessert and my take on the wonderful Italian dish! I love strawberries, again the season is short although you can get them almost year round in California, but they are just so sweet right now, really starting in late April and throughout the summer you can see them fresh at road side stands and farmers markets. This dish is just another way to bring this sweet berry to life! Pair anything with cream, liqueur and mascarpone, how bad can it be?? Make this dish, call it Tiramisu, call it a strawberry cream dessert, I’m guessing people will not care, they will just eat it and say wow, that’s really good!!

- 1 container mascarpone cheese, set out let come to room temp
- 1 and ½ cups chilled whipping cream
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon good vanilla extract
- 2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 packages ladyfingers, sometimes one package will work? You need between 45 and 50 pending on size of your dish?

Mix the mascarpone and 2 tablespoons remaining orange liqueur till blended
Using electric mixer beat cream, sugar and vanilla till stiff peaks form
Stir ¼ of the cream mixture into the mascarpone mixture, then add remaining whipped cream
Assemble dish
There will only be 8 layers total, spread strawberry preserves in bottom of dish, then add lady fingers, just straight is fine, they will be covered so no need to get real fancy here.
Then top with mascarpone mixture, then add a layer of fresh strawberries, sliced, repeat layering process, being generous with all the ingredients!
Top with fresh sliced strawberries, this will be the last layer, just add a few on top so everyone will know it’s a strawberry dessert!
