Hi! My name is Sharon Blaine and I am the cook behind Sharon’s Kitchen.
Currently, I live in California, married with two children, one at away at at Ole Miss and the other will be joining soon. They got their love of the south from their mama!
My goal is to provide affordable and delicious recipes for those who love to cook and those who want to learn, even college kids! No matter what your budget or time constraints, my recipes will be for you.
I bring a different perspective to the world of cooking. From my Kentucky roots to living in southern California, I love to incorporate fresh ingredients with a southern flare.
Originally a Southern girl, I was born and raised in the backwoods of Kentucky in a small town called Whitesburg – about 13 miles from the Virginia border.
We had lots of land for planting hug gardens and also raised pigs and chickens. We grew everything you could think of in our garden back home. The fresh tomatoes were my favorite. I would go to the garden and pick one right off the vine, salt shaker in hand, and eat it like an apple… so good! I’ve always had a love for food, which all started with my mom.
She made everything homemade. Her fried chicken was the best! Growing up, I watched her make tomato juice for soups, homemade rhubarb pie and blackberry cobbler, all made from ingredients we grew on our farm. She also made biscuits, creamed corn and cornbread in her cast iron skillet. Her cast iron skillet was like her best friend. You name it she could make it, and I was always by her side watching!
After years of working in the dental field, I felt I needed a change. Over the last 16 years, I’ve returned to my roots of cooking, gardening and creating beautiful landscapes.
Well that’s a little about me. Now, let’s get in the kitchen and start cooking!
